Last updated: 15 October 2026 · Version 13
1. Who is responsible for your data
Reminth (the launcher and this website) is run by Lefteris Psilopanagiotis, an individual developer based in Greece (“we”, “us”). For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Greek Law 4624/2019, we are the controller of the personal data described in section 3.
Contact for anything in this policy: reminthsupport@gmail.com. We are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer and have not done so.
NOT AN OFFICIAL MINECRAFT PRODUCT. NOT APPROVED BY OR ASSOCIATED WITH MOJANG OR MICROSOFT.
2. The principle this policy follows
This page describes what the code actually does. Reminth is built so that we don't need your data: the launcher reports nothing to us beyond your Reminth account (section 3c), there is no tracking, and no selling or sharing of personal data with anyone. We do not use your data for profiling or automated decision-making.
3. Personal data we process
a) Visiting this website
The site runs no analytics, trackers or advertising, uses no local storage and loads no third-party fonts or scripts. It sets no cookies unless you sign in to a Reminth account (section 3c); those cookies are strictly necessary for signing in and are never used for anything else.
-
Hosting (Cloudflare). The site (
reminth.pages.dev) is hosted on Cloudflare Pages by Cloudflare, Inc. (USA), which acts as our processor. Like any web server, it receives your IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time, and keeps short-lived server logs. Purpose: delivering the site and protecting it from abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Retention: as set by Cloudflare for its logs; we do not export, combine or analyse them. Transfer outside the EU: covered by Cloudflare's data processing agreement and the safeguards it provides, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. - Downloading Reminth (GitHub). The download button points at a GitHub release. Downloading is a request to GitHub, Inc., under GitHub's own privacy statement. We can only see total download counts, not who downloaded.
c) The Reminth account
The launcher asks you to make a Reminth account (or sign in to yours) the first time you open it, before you connect Minecraft; the same account works on this website. You sign in with Discord, Google or an email address and password. If our account server can't be reached, the launcher still works.
-
What we get from Discord: your Discord user id, username and display name, and your profile
picture's id (Discord's
identifypermission). Not your email address, your servers, friends or messages. Discord also asks you to allow "Join servers for you" (guilds.join): it lets Reminth add you to the official Reminth Discord server. For that we keep Discord's renewal key ("refresh token"), encrypted. You can leave the server at any time like any other server, and you can take the permission back in Discord (User Settings - Authorized Apps - Reminth - Deauthorize); then Reminth can't add you again. -
What we get from Google: your Google account id, name and profile picture (the
openidandprofilepermissions). Not your email address, Gmail, Drive or anything else. Google's access key is used once to read this and then thrown away. - Email sign-in: your email address and your password in a scrambled one-way form (PBKDF2 with a random salt - we cannot read your password back). We don't send emails, so there is no address check and no "forgot password" yet; email us if you are locked out. To slow down guessing, we count failed sign-ins per address and per network for 15 minutes (stored as one-way fingerprints).
- What we store: your gamer tag, the link to your picture, which ways you sign in (with the Discord or Google id, or the email address), whether you were added to the Reminth Discord server, when the account was made and when you last signed in, and when you first signed in to Minecraft in the launcher (only that it happened - not your Minecraft name and nothing from your Microsoft account; it lets us count how many players use Reminth); and for each signed-in device or browser a session record (a one-way fingerprint of a random key - not the key itself) with when it was made and when it expires (after 90 days). While you sign in from the launcher with Discord or Google, a 2-minute one-time code is stored too.
-
Cookies (website, only when you sign in):
rm_state(10 minutes, protects the sign-in from forgery) andrm_session(keeps you signed in, up to 90 days). In the launcher the session key is kept on your computer, encrypted with Windows' own key store. -
Your profile picture is shown from Discord's or Google's image server (
cdn.discordapp.com,lh3.googleusercontent.com), so they receive a normal web request from you when it is shown. - Purpose: letting you sign in, showing who is signed in, and (if you allow it) adding you to the Reminth Discord server. Legal basis: performing the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)); for the Discord server, your consent on Discord's own "Authorize" page (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw as described above. Retention: until you delete the account; sessions end after 90 days or when you sign out. Deleting: "Delete my account" on the account page removes the account, its sign-in ways and every session at once, and hands the Discord permission back to Discord; we keep no copy.
- Where it is stored: in a Cloudflare D1 database run by Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) as our processor, under the same safeguards as the website hosting above. Discord and Google are separate companies with their own privacy policies.
b) Contacting us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. Purpose: answering you, and dealing with privacy requests, bug and security reports, legal or takedown notices. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in replying (Art. 6(1)(f)); where your email relates to a purchase, performing our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)); and complying with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)). Retention: we delete the conversation 12 months after it ends, unless we need to keep it longer to deal with a legal claim. Our email provider stores it on our behalf as a processor.
If you open an issue on the Reminth GitHub repository, it is public and handled by GitHub under its own terms. Don't post personal details there; email us instead. We will delete or hide issues we control on request.
4. The launcher: what stays on your computer
Everything the launcher saves lives on your own computer, mainly in %APPDATA%\Reminth, which
also holds your instance folders. None of it is uploaded or sent to us. We have no access to it.
- Your sign-in tokens (
account.jsonand a backup copy of it): your Microsoft and Minecraft sign-in tokens, your Minecraft username and player ID, so you don't have to sign in every time. The file is encrypted by Windows with your Windows account's own key (DPAPI, via Electron's safeStorage). If Windows encryption is not available on a PC, the tokens are not saved at all and you sign in again the next time you start Reminth. The tokens are only ever sent to Microsoft and Mojang to keep you signed in. - Your settings and instance list (
settings.json,instances.json): memory, accent colour, streamer-mode options, and each instance's name, version, loader, options, play time and when you last played it. - Bookkeeping inside each instance (a
.reminthfolder in the instance): which files Reminth installed there and which Modrinth project each one came from, so it can update or remove its own copies without touching yours; which performance-pack mods you switched off or removed (so they are not put back) and what happened to each at the last Play; and, if you picked a performance profile for a new instance, a note that Reminth wrote a startingoptions.txt(see section 10); whenever an update replaces a mod file (“Update mods to fit”, “Switch to…”, “Fix all”, or a normal update), a copy of the old file (in.reminth\replaced-mods, the newest five batches are kept) so you can put it back; and, after a game that stops soon after it starts, the names of the mods Minecraft itself reported as not fitting (.reminth\launch-report.json, read from that instance's own game log, deleted again after a start that gets past loading mods); and, if you use “Boost FPS…”, your video settings from before it changed them (.reminth\options-before-boost.json) so “Put my old settings back” can restore them. None of this leaves your computer. - Skins: a cached copy of your current skin and any skins you save to your library.
- Caches of public information: a catalogue of public Modrinth listings, and which Modrinth project each of your installed files is and who made it (creator name, profile picture address, icon); and, for six hours, which stable build of each performance-pack mod Modrinth offered for a Minecraft version and loader.
- Logs. Launcher logs:
updater.log(update checks),auth.log(sign-in errors) andmain-errors.log(details of launcher errors and crashes). Sign-in tokens are removed before anything is written to these; they can still contain folder paths, which include your Windows user name. Game logs: the output of the last game session of each instance (launch-logs), the logs and crash reports Minecraft writes in each instance's ownlogsfolder, and an archive of those (log-archive) so older sessions stay viewable in the Logs tab. Game logs can contain your username, chat and the addresses of servers you joined. Reminth does not delete the archive on its own, and no log is ever uploaded. - Which games are running (nothing is saved): when Reminth starts, it asks Windows for the list
of running Java programs (
java.exeandjavaw.exe) and reads only each one's process number, when it started, and the game folder in its start command. That lets Reminth show a game it started earlier, before Reminth was closed, restarted or updated, as running, and not start a second copy on the same worlds. The start command of a game also contains your Minecraft sign-in token; Reminth does not read, keep or log it. The result stays in memory and is gone when Reminth closes. - ReminthHUD (the bar in the game with FPS, GPU, CPU and latency): it runs inside the game and
reads your PC's CPU and graphics load from Windows' own performance counters, and the latency the game
already knows. Nothing is sent to us. While you are on a multiplayer server it also asks that server
for your own statistics (blocks mined, kills, deaths, time played - the same request the game's Statistics
screen makes, so the server sees nothing new) and saves the answer on your PC, in
.reminth\server-statsinside the instance, so that Player Statistics can show your numbers from servers;"serverStats": falsein the settings file turns this off. Which items it shows is kept inconfig\reminthhud.jsoninside the instance;hud-on-by-default.jsonin%APPDATA%\Reminthrecords that Reminth switched the bar on once for your existing Fabric and Quilt instances. - Reminth home screen (the game's title screen, installed like the bar): it runs inside the game,
has a Discover button and a Skins button that ask Windows to
open Reminth through the links
reminth://discoverandreminth://skins. Nothing is stored or sent.config\reminthhome.jsonin the instance can switch it off. - The game itself: Minecraft, mod loaders, Java, your mods, packs and your worlds.
- Streamer mode (only if you turn it on): while it is on and the game is running, Reminth
records the picture of the Minecraft window, not the rest of your screen. If “Record sound” is on
(it is on by default), the recording also contains all the sound your PC is playing, not only
the game: for example music or a voice call. The recording is a temporary rolling buffer in
%APPDATA%\Reminth\replay-bufferthat holds only the last 30 seconds to 30 minutes (your choice); older parts are deleted as it records, and what is left is cleared the next time recording starts. Clips and screenshots you take are saved toVideos\Reminthand stay there until you delete them.
To fill in Home, your instances and Player Statistics, the launcher reads your worlds, server lists, statistics, logs and mod files in its own game folders. This happens locally.
5. The launcher: what it sends, and to whom
The launcher has no telemetry, analytics, crash reporting or tracking. Each request goes directly from your computer to the service involved. We are not involved in these requests and never see them. Each service is responsible for what it does with the request under its own privacy policy. All of them can see your IP address, as with any request on the internet.
- Microsoft and Xbox Live (login.microsoftonline.com, user.auth.xboxlive.com, xsts.auth.xboxlive.com): to sign you in to your own Microsoft account, on Microsoft's own sign-in page. Reminth never sees your password.
- Minecraft Services and Mojang (api.minecraftservices.com, api.mojang.com, sessionserver.mojang.com, textures.minecraft.net): to verify that you own the game, load your profile, skin and capes, look up another player's skin when you use “copy a skin by username”, and change your skin or cape when you press Save.
- Mojang's download servers (piston-meta.mojang.com, launchermeta.mojang.com, resources.download.minecraft.net, libraries.minecraft.net and the download addresses Mojang's own version files point to): to download the game, its libraries and assets, and the Java runtime Mojang publishes for each version. If that Java download fails, Java is downloaded from Microsoft instead (aka.ms).
- Fabric, Quilt, Forge and NeoForge (meta.fabricmc.net, maven.fabricmc.net, meta.quiltmc.org, files.minecraftforge.net, maven.minecraftforge.net, maven.neoforged.net): to list and download the mod loader you pick, and Fabric API from Fabric's own server. A Forge or NeoForge installer can name further library servers, and the launcher downloads from those when you install that loader.
- Modrinth (api.modrinth.com, cdn.modrinth.com): to browse, search, install and update content and to list servers in Discover. To show who made each mod, whether an update exists, whether a mod will load on your Minecraft version and which build would, the launcher sends Modrinth the file fingerprints (SHA-1 hashes) of the mods, packs and shaders in your instances, together with the Minecraft version and loader it is asking about. A fingerprint identifies a file, not you. Requests identify the app as “reminth-launcher” and its version; no account information is sent. To install and update the performance pack the launcher also asks Modrinth which stable build of each pack mod exists for your Minecraft version and loader (the mod's name, the version and the loader, nothing else) and downloads that build from cdn.modrinth.com.
- GitHub (api.github.com and GitHub's release download servers): to check for and download Reminth updates (when the launcher starts and then every six hours while it stays open, or when you press “Check for updates” in Settings), and, only when Modrinth cannot be reached and nothing is remembered from it, to download Sodium, Lithium and ScalableLux from each project's own GitHub releases on Fabric and Quilt instances.
- Modpack file hosts: a modpack lists where each of its files is downloaded from. Reminth only accepts cdn.modrinth.com, github.com, raw.githubusercontent.com and gitlab.com, and downloads from those when you install such a pack.
- Image servers: mod icons, creators' profile pictures, and the pictures in a project's description and gallery load from cdn.modrinth.com and, for creators who use a GitHub picture, avatars.githubusercontent.com. Pictures hosted on any other site are never loaded by the launcher; a small placeholder with an “Open in browser” link is shown instead. Links on a project page open in your own web browser, not inside the launcher, and only if they start with https.
- Minecraft servers: when you view servers in the launcher, it contacts each server directly to show whether it's online, its player count, its version and your ping, the same way the game's multiplayer screen does. That server sees your IP address. When you join a server, the game itself connects to it.
Mods you install are made by third parties and may make their own network requests once the game is running. Reminth's own HUD mod runs locally and sends nothing anywhere, with one exception you can switch off:
- Tier Tagger (a feature in the Reminth panel, on unless you turn it off: press G, Visual, Tier
Tagger) and the in-game command
/tiers <name>: to show players' PvP tiers, the game asks the public tier lists MCTiers (mctiers.com), PvPTiers (pvptiers.com) and SubTiers (subtiers.net) about the Minecraft account IDs of the players you see (and, for/tiers, asks Mojang (api.mojang.com) which account ID a name belongs to). Minecraft account IDs are public; nothing about you is sent besides what every internet request shows (your IP address). Each player is asked about at most about once every 30 minutes, the answers are only kept in memory while the game runs, and players on offline-mode servers are never looked up. These sites are run by others under their own privacy policies.
The launcher itself does the same for you, from Reminth 1.8.0:
- PvP tiers on the launcher's Home: to show your own PvP tiers, the launcher asks MCTiers (mctiers.com), PvPTiers (pvptiers.com) and SubTiers (subtiers.net) about your Minecraft account ID - nothing else (no name, no sign-in token); nothing about you is sent besides what every internet request shows (your IP address). Minecraft account IDs are public. It asks at most about once every 30 minutes while Reminth is open, and the answer is only kept in memory. These sites are run by others under their own privacy policies.
6. Paid features
Reminth+ and Reminth Hosting are not available yet, and nothing can be bought. Before any paid feature launches, this policy will be updated to say exactly what data it needs (for example, the details our payment provider needs to process your payment), who processes it and for how long, and you will see that before you pay.
7. Children
Playing Minecraft requires a Microsoft account, and Microsoft applies its own age rules and parental controls. A Reminth account is meant for people at least 13 years old (or older where local law says so), like Discord and Google accounts. Reminth does not ask your age and does not knowingly collect personal data from children below that age; if that happened, we delete the account. If you are under 15, please ask a parent or guardian before emailing us. A parent or guardian who believes their child has sent us personal data can ask us to delete it.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- delete it (“right to be forgotten”);
- restrict how we use it;
- object to our use of it based on legitimate interests;
- data portability, where it applies;
- withdraw any consent you gave, at any time, without affecting what was done before.
Email reminthsupport@gmail.com to use any of these rights. It's free, and we answer within one month (extendable by two months for complex requests, in which case we'll tell you why). We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
Data that only exists on your own computer (section 4) is fully under your control: sign out to delete
the stored account file, or delete the %APPDATA%\Reminth folder (and
Videos\Reminth if you used streamer mode) to remove everything the launcher has written.
Back up any worlds first, since this deletes them too.
Right to complain. You can complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (Αρχή Προστασίας Δεδομένων Προσωπικού Χαρακτήρα), Kifisias 1-3, 115 23 Athens, Greece, www.dpa.gr, or to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work. We'd appreciate the chance to fix the problem first, but you don't have to contact us before complaining.
9. Security
Sign-in tokens are encrypted on your computer by Windows, as described in section 4. Minecraft's own files, its libraries and assets, Mojang's Java runtime, and everything downloaded from Modrinth or listed in a modpack are checked against the checksum their source publishes. A few sources publish no checksum: the performance mods when they come from GitHub (only as a fallback, see section 5), the fallback Java download from Microsoft, and some mod-loader files. Those are downloaded over an encrypted connection from the project's official location. Reminth checks that every performance mod is actually built for your Minecraft version and loader before keeping it, and installs only stable releases of the performance pack, never alpha or beta builds. The launcher contacts only the services listed above, over encrypted connections where the service supports them (Minecraft servers use the game's own protocol). No system is perfectly secure; if you find a security problem, please email us privately instead of posting details publicly.
10. Things Reminth changes on your computer when you ask
Nothing here is sent anywhere. It is listed because it changes how Minecraft runs or what is on your
disk: (a) the Java settings Reminth starts Minecraft with are chosen per Java version, and you can pick
the garbage collector in Settings; (b) with the setting on (it is on by default) Reminth asks Windows to
run Minecraft one step above other programs, never higher, and not while streamer mode is on; (c) when you
create an instance and pick the Max FPS or Far view profile, Reminth writes a starting
options.txt into that new instance only if no options.txt, world or game log
exists there, and never changes one that exists; (d) “Choose graphics card…” only opens
Windows' own graphics settings page and shows you the path to copy; Reminth does not change that setting
or write to the Windows registry; (e) “Boost FPS…” in an instance's menu shows the video
settings it would change, changes them in that instance's options.txt only after you press
“Change them” and never while the game runs, and keeps your old values so you can put them back;
(f) with ReminthHUD in an instance, it starts Just Enough Items (JEI), if you have it, about a second and a
half after you join a world or server if JEI has not started by then, using JEI's own start-up action, so
JEI's loading does not freeze the game later; this can be switched off with
"jeiEarlyStart": false in config\reminthhud.json; (g) since Reminth 1.4.2 the
installer puts Reminth in your own user folder (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\reminth-launcher)
instead of C:\Program Files, so installing and updating no longer need administrator rights. If an
older all-users copy is found, Windows asks once and the installer removes that old copy; your instances,
worlds and settings in %APPDATA%\Reminth are kept.
11. Changes to this policy
When what Reminth does changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. If a change affects your data in a significant way, such as a new feature that stores data off your computer, we will announce it in the launcher and on this site before it takes effect, not as a quiet edit.
Version history
- Version 13, 15 October 2026: from Reminth 1.8.0 the launcher's Home shows your own PvP tiers - it asks the three public tier lists about your Minecraft account ID.
- Version 12, 10 October 2026: from Reminth 1.7.2 the Reminth account also stores when you first signed in to Minecraft in the launcher (only that it happened, to count players).
- Version 11, 10 October 2026: the Tier Tagger in the Reminth panel and
/tiers- which tier lists the game asks about players' public account IDs (on by default, can be turned off). - Version 10, 9 October 2026: the launcher now asks for a Reminth account; added Google and email + password sign-in, and the optional adding to the Reminth Discord server (Discord's "Join servers for you").
- Version 9, 9 October 2026: added the optional Reminth account (sign in with Discord): what it stores, the two sign-in cookies on the website, Discord profile pictures, and how to delete it.
- Version 8, 5 October 2026: described that ReminthHUD asks the server you play on for your own statistics and saves them on your PC (Player Statistics), and the Reminth home screen.
- Version 7, 4 October 2026: described how Reminth finds games it started earlier (the list of running Java programs, never the sign-in token in their start command), ReminthHUD and its settings file, “Boost FPS…” and the copy of your old video settings, the early start of JEI, and the move of the installer to your user folder.
- Version 6, 3 October 2026: the performance pack now comes from Modrinth (stable builds only,
checksum-checked) with GitHub only as a fallback, and has more mods and Forge/NeoForge support; added
process priority, starting
options.txtfiles for performance profiles, the graphics-card help, the “Update mods to fit” button and its copies of replaced mods, the six-hour update check, the copies of replaced mods on every update, the note of mods the game reported as not fitting, and the new bookkeeping and cache files. - Version 5, 2 October 2026: listed every service the launcher contacts (including modpack file hosts and the compatibility check's file fingerprints) and every file it keeps on your PC (including its logs); corrected the checksum statement and said that streamer mode's sound is everything your PC is playing.
- Version 4, 2 October 2026: moved website hosting to Cloudflare Pages and removed Google Fonts, so the website no longer makes any request to Google.
- Version 3, 1 October 2026: named the operator and a contact email; added legal bases, retention periods, your GDPR rights and the right to complain; added the performance-mod downloads from GitHub; added the Mojang/Microsoft disclaimer.
- Version 2, 1 October 2026: added file fingerprints, creator pictures and streamer mode.
- Version 1, 20 September 2026: first published.
